England Specials and Classic Motorsport magazine invite you to join us for the eight day 2010 Goodwood Festival of Speed and Cotswolds Classic Car Tour as we experience the atmosphere, the sound and the spectacle of motor sport at its most enjoyable on Lord March’s idyllic country estate – which was until 1966 Britain’s premier Grand Prix circuit.  Here you will see performances from the greatest collection and variety of motor sport history to be found anywhere in the world: Grand Prix, sports and saloon cars, US stock and NASCAR icons, rally, hill climb and speed record cars, the weird, the wonderful and the fabulous and everything between the 1890’s and today!

The list of entrants is too fantastic to list. For up-to-date information about cars and drivers and all aspects of the Festival, check this link: www.goodwood.co.uk/fos/.  Here you will also find out much about previous events at Goodwood.

Your holiday begins in London with a chance to relax after your flight with a bus tour of this fascinating city and an opportunity to meet some of your fellow-classic car fans.

Stonehenge by moonlightThe classic car tour starts when you collect your car on Monday and takes you via the scenic and historic sites of the South of England as you explore some of the lovely and unspoiled heartland Countryside en route for the Cotswolds to overnight in Stow-on-the-wold.

 Lower Slaughter, Cotswolds

There will be an opportunity to tour the Morgan car factory and the Cotswolds Motor Museum and to check out for yourself the idyllic and unchanging villages and towns including Broadway, Bourton on the Water, Chipping Campden and many others.

On Thursday, your route takes you via the fabulous university city of Oxford and fashionable Henley on Thames to Stowmarket to return your classic car.  A coach will then take you via Chartwell - the home of Winston Churchill - to Southsea, your base for the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Mercedes GP 700The setting of the Goodwood Estate is magnificent and the Earls of March have a long history of active participation in, and promotion of, motor racing at the highest levels.  The facilities are of the highest quality and the atmosphere is truly a festival!

The runs up the Hill include cars from the earliest days of motoring up to the current Formula One and Le Mans cars and drivers and everything in between: - the thundering giants of the pre-First War era, the beautiful Bugattis, Delages, Alfas, Maseratis and bellowing Bentleys of the Twenties, the incredibleA Morgan craftsman Auto Union and Mercedes of the Thirties and a host of everything else of all ages – Ferrari, Lotus, Cooper, Cobra, Jaguar, Porsche, Audi, rally legends such as Mini Cooper, Lancia, Ford et al.  Blend in the cream of US historic cars and legendary drivers, a mobile history of motor cycling, stir in more former World Champions on two and four wheels than you will see anywhere else. Top off with the unique magic that is Goodwood and you have a feast of the food of which dreams are made!

Parnelli Jones meets a young fanPart of the unique atmosphere of Goodwood is the “open door” at the paddock. You are free to walk around and inspect and photograph the cars (and, if you’re lucky, to sit in one!) and to talk to the drivers or even, maybe, meet Lord March himself as he strolls around greeting you or, as he sees it, his guests.
Your tickets will be for prime grandstand seats but you are free to roam over the whole of the event and you will certainly want to go to the top of the hill to visit the new rally track!
After Saturday’s racing, you will be taken directly to London for overnight rest before your journey home.

The practice runs are usually very exciting and the new Rally Course will be very accessible and extremely spectacular!
